This is not a regular star like other 27 stars of horoscope. You can all it as invisible star. The Moon has 27 wives; they are the daughters of Daksha Prajapathi and wife Panchajani (Virani). These 27 sisters had one brother and that brother is Abhijit Nakshatra.

Abhijit means “Victorious” or “the one who cannot be defeated”. In Bhagavad Geeta, Krishna said that He was Shiva among Rudras;
He was Arjuna among Pandava and He was Abhijit among Nakshatra Classical Vedic texts mention Abhijit as one of the most auspicious time for doing any auspicious activity excepting travelling to southern direction.
Its deity is Lord Brahma. Some Vedic texts also mention that 28 minutes before and 28 minutes after 12:00 clock (a.m. and p.m. both) is called as Abhijit Muhurtah too.

अभिजीत नक्षत्र - VEGA चन्द्र भवन की भारतीय खगोल गणना मे 27 नक्षत्र या तारा मण्डल ही है। जबकि अरेबिक और चयनीज गणना मे 28 है। अभिजीत लघु, क्षिप्र संज्ञक नक्षत्र है। यह केवल मुहूर्तादि मे ही विचार किया जाता है। यह उत्तराषाढ़ा और श्रवण के मध्य 276।40 से 280।53. 20 अंशादि (उ. षा. 4 चरण और श्रवण 4 घटी) मकर 6।40 से 10।53.20 तक ही होता है। इसका मुख्य भाग उत्तराषाढ़ा नक्षत्र और मीन नवमांश मे होता है। इसके तीन तारो से त्रिकोण की आकृति बनती है लेकिन यह स्वतंत्र नक्षत्र यानि तारा मंडल नही है।
➤ अष्टोतरी नक्षत्र दशा मे अभिजीत की गणना की जाती है।
➤ अहोरात्र मे मध्यान्ह और मध्यरात्रि के 28 मिनिट पूर्व और पश्चात का समय (11. 32 से 12. 28 और 23.32 से 00 .28) अभिजीत मुहूर्त है।
➤ भगवान श्रीराम का जन्म मध्यान्ह अभिजीत मे हुआ था।
➤ भगवान श्रीकृष्ण का जन्म मध्यरात्रि अभिजीत मे हुआ था।
➤ अखंड भारत का विभाजन तथा स्वतंत्र भारत की घोषणा मध्यरात्रि के अभिजीत मुहूर्त मे की गई थी।
अभिजित नक्षत्र में जन्मा जातक सुंदर स्वरूप वाला, साधुओं का प्रिय, विनीत, यशस्वी, विप्र और देवताओं का भक्त, स्पष्टवक्ता, कुल में श्रेष्ठ और नृप तुल्य होता है। अभिजित नक्षत्र ही नहीं, अभिजित मुहूर्त में भी जन्म लेने वाला जातक कुल शिरोमणि होता है। रामचरितमानस के बाल कांड के दोहे में भगवान राम के जन्म का विवरण इस प्रकार मिलता है। नवमी तिथि मधु मास पुनीता।
सुकलपच्छ अभिजित हरिप्रीता।। मुहर्त ग्रंथ में प्रमाण है कि अभिजित मुहूत्र्त एवं अभिजित नक्षत्र दोनों का अलग-अलग महत्व है। किंतु संयोग से अभिजित काल में अभिजित नक्षत्र भी उपलब्ध हो जाए, तब विलक्षण संयोग फलीभूत होता है। ऐसे शुभ काल में किए गए कार्यों का सुफल तत्काल प्राप्त होता है।
अभिजित राजस् नक्षत्र है। यह नक्षत्र मनुष्य के रीढ़ एवं कमर को प्रभावित करता है। इसके प्रथम 2 चरण रीढ़ एवं अंतिम 2 चरण कमर पर अपना प्रभाव दिखाते हैं।
मानसागरी तथा जातकाभरणम् में उल्लेख है कि जिसका जन्म समय अभिजित नक्षत्र में हो, वह उत्तम कांति वाला, सद्पुरूषों का संगी, कीर्तिवान, मनोहारी छवियुक्त, ईश्वर एवं विप्रजनों का पूजक, सत्यवक्ता और स्वकुल प्रधान होता है।
जिस जातक का जन्म अभिजित में हुआ हो, उसका नामकरण अभिजित के अक्षरों के अनुसार करना चाहिए। परंतु महादशा ज्ञात करने के लिए निराभिजित नक्षत्र गणना का उपयोग करें; अर्थात् उत्तराषाढ़ा, या श्रवण में से जो भी जन्मकालीन् नक्षत्र हो, उसी के स्वामी के अनुसार महादशा का निर्णय करें।
